Mountain Climbing

The Hohe Tauern a paradise for mountaineers

The number of peaks around the highest mountain of Austria, Großglockner, is almost endless. They include renowned destinations such as Ankogel or Hoher Sonnblick, while a large number classify as “secret tip”.

As an orientation guide for mountain enthusiasts, we selected seven destinations among the infinite sea of summits – they represent the variety of the Hohe Tauern national park region, insights and vistas away from established routes and the seven municipalities bordering the Hohe Tauern national park in Carinthia.

FROM THE MOUNTAINS OF THE WORLD… …INTO THE WORLD OF MOUNTAINS IN CARINTHIA’S HOHE TAUERN NATIONAL PARK

What are the “seven summits”? This term refers to the highest summits of the seven continents: Mt. Vinson (4,897 m), Carstenz Pyramide (5,030 m), Elbrus (5,642 m), Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), Mt. Mc Kinley (6,194 m), Aconcagua (6,959 m) and Mt. Everest (8,850 m). To become a “seven summitter”, i. e. to be standing atop of all these seven summits once in a lifetime is likely the most coveted goal of any extreme mountaineer – aside from conquering all 14 8,000 m giants.

“Seven Summits” – the goal of extreme mountaineers only? Don’t worry, we will transport you from the mountains of the world to the world of mountains in the Hohe Tauern national park – we have our own “Seven summits”!

7 DREAM MOUNTAIN TOURS IN HOHE TAUERN NATIONAL PARK

Straßkopf (2,401 m), Mohar (2,604 m), Keeskopf (3,081 m), Spielmann (3,027 m), Zagutnigspitze (2,731 m), Säuleck (3.086 m) and Mittleres Schwarzhorn (2,932 m) – are the names of the „Seven Summits“ in the Hohe Tauern national park.

We deliberately selected these seven mountains not as the highest, most difficult or most renowned summits of the Hohe Tauern range – but because they symbolise a different access to he world of mountains.

They represent the surprising variety of the national park, the adventures beyond the well-worn paths, splendid, yet technically not too challenging routes and the seven Carinthian municipalities bordering the national park. They were selected for you by professional mountaineers who are thoroughly familiar with any nook and cranny of the park, and combined to a fascinating alpine project which is bound to attract the attention of mountain enthusiasts from the start: the ascent to all seven summits. Start your very special expedition across the national park and be enchanted by the magic of hiking through untouched nature.

We promise that it will be worthwhile – not only for the award bestowed upon you at the end of your journey.

We wish you seven unforgettable mountain adventures!
