Mӧlltaler
A well developed ski bus system connects the two sister ski resorts Ankogel and Mölltal Glacier. The only glacier ski resort in Carinthia offers the longest skiing season across the country from the end of September to the beginning of May along with superb slopes and powder snow as far as the eye can see. The state of Carinthia agrees: Mölltal Glacier was awarded the Carinthian Quality Certificate for slopes in the winter of 2002-2003.
With up to 450 cm of natural snow in the middle of winter and a compact under-layer of artificial snow, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy their sport in white from Schareck all the way down to the Schwarzkopf lift. At an altitude of 2,100 to 3,122 m, the Mölltal Glacier offers 50 km of slopes and 9 lift systems.
The ski resort is accessible from the Valley Station at 1,200 m above sea level via Glacier Express (cable car) that reaches the ski school centre at the mid-station on 2,200 m in a “mere” eight minutes. Ice Lake cable car (Eisseebahn, accommodates 6 people) directly reaches the mountain station at 2,800 m above sea level.
